STT has completed the implementation of EU financed project activities

On 31 December 2010, the Special Investigation Service (STT) of the Republic of Lithuania competed the implementation of activities under project No.VP1-4.2-VRM-03-V-01-044 “Automation of Budget Planning Finance Accounting, Contract Management, Asset Acquisition, and Asset Management Processes at the Special Investigation Service of the Republic of Lithuania” financed from EU Structural Funds.

The main objective of this project was to increase the STT activities efficiency following introduction of the IT system for budget planning and implementation control, finance and material resources accounting and management.

The system covering these processes was introduced at STT in the course of the project, which will improve STT’s internal administration and activities management. 30 STT employees were trained to work with the new system.
It is now possible to correlate results of programme „Prevention of and Fight against Corruption Related Crimes and Offences“ under implementation by STT and the finance allocated in order to attain them, i.e. to provide a possibility to perform regular and objective assessment of the efficiency, usefulness and sustainable effect of the programme under implementation.

Automation of all processes related to finance and material resources accounting and management will lead to data consistency and integrity assurance, and possibilities for achieving better data analysis and generation of reports will get considerably improved. Transfer of budget planning and implementation control, procurement and contract management processes to the electronic space will result in working time saving, reduction of operation costs, easier budget planning and control, which will bring about a positive shift towards a more operative decision taking, the decisions on which the success of the state in fighting against corruption depend.

STT will perform further maintenance and development of the system introduced.

The project took 9 months and 12 days to be implemented under the Human Resources Development Operational Programme for 2007 to 2013 confirmed by the Ministry of Interior (Priority 4 “Fostering Administrative Competence and Increasing Efficiency of Public Administration”, measure “Improvement of Public Administration System”).
The amount allocated from the EU Structural Funds for financing of above project is 319.263,40 Litas.
