Yesterday, in London (United Kingdom), Žydrūnas Bartkus, Director of the Special Investigation Service of the Republic of Lithuania and Mark Thompson, Director of the Serious Fraud Office of the United Kingdom (SFO) signed A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to promote and assist cooperation and coordination between two institutions.
The aims of this Memorandum of Understanding are the exchange of information, the exchange of information, for the prevention and detection of offences of serious corruption, economic crime and bribery of public officials. Moreover, to tackle bribery of foreign public officials as it is defined in The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Convention on Combating Bribery of Foreign Public Officials in International Business Transactions.
„This Memorandum of Understanding lets achieve mutual benefits of Lithuania and the United Kingdom in the fight against corruption. The exchange of good practice and information will help to strengthen institutional capacities and ensure cooperation to tackle bribery of foreign public officials“, – says Žydrūnas Bartkus, Director of the Special Investigation Service of the Republic of Lithuania.
“The visit was an opportunity to strengthen the already good cooperation the SFO enjoys with the Special Investigation Service of the Republic of Lithuania. The signing of this MOU will continue to support and consolidate this partnership to tackle serious corruption, bribery and fraud”, – says Mark Thompson, Director of the Serious Fraud Office of the United Kingdom.
