OLAF in 2013: higher volume of investigative work, shorter duration of investigations, more results for EU taxpayers

In 2013, OLAF assisted the European Commission with the development of anti-fraud policies and legislation. The Office contributed substantial technical input for the Commission’s legislative proposal on the establishment of a European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) of July. This initiative will help ensure that fraud against the EU budget is consistently prosecuted across Europe and that fraudsters are brought to justice.

EU Twinning project in Croatia launched

Special Investigation Service of the Republic of Lithuania together with the Central Electoral Commission of the Republic of Lithuania and Central Project Management Agency (CPMA) has already started to implement the EU Twinning project „Strengthening the System of Supervision of Political Activities and Electoral Campaign Financing in the Republic of Croatia“.

Discussion on the medical practitioners’ declaration of assets

This week Special Investigation Service (STT) of the Republic of Lithuania held the discussion with the Union of Lithuanian Doctors, Lithuanian Trade Union of Health Care Employees, Ministry of Health and State Tax Inspectorate under the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Lithuania on the STT’ suggestion that physicians and health care practitioners should declare their assets and publish these declarations.

A cooperation agreement with the Customs Training Centre

Today, Director of The Special Investigation Service (STT) Saulius Urbanavičius and Head of the Customs Training Centre Halina Černiauskienė signed a cooperation agreement on the training of officials.
