The Special Investigation Service of the Republic of Lithuania (STT) has launched an interactive anti-corruption education platform, Transparency Badge (Skaidrumo ženklelis), designed for students in grades 5–12 and their teachers. This modern learning platform aims to promote integrity, transparency and resilience to corruption among young people, while encouraging responsible decision-making in everyday life. On 6 and 7 October, two online training sessions were held for teachers to introduce the platform's features and demonstrate how it can be integrated into the educational process.
The Transparency Badge platform was developed to provide school communities with an engaging and easily accessible environment for anti-corruption education. It enables students not only to acquire theoretical knowledge about transparency but also to develop practical skills in recognising ethical dilemmas, analysing real-life situations and assessing the consequences of their decisions.
Registered teachers will have access to educational resources on anti-corruption teaching methods and tools. They will be able to create virtual classrooms, assign tasks to students and use ready-made quizzes and ethical dilemma scenarios. These features will allow teachers to integrate anti-corruption topics into their lessons in various ways and adapt the content to different age groups.
On 6 and 7 October, the STT organised two practical online training sessions for teachers. The first session was aimed at teachers of grades 9–12, while the second focused on grades 5–8. During the sessions, teachers were guided step by step through the Transparency Badge platform and had the opportunity to explore its features, create virtual classrooms, assign tasks, use quizzes and ethical dilemmas, and monitor students' progress. More than 450 teachers from across Lithuania participated in the two training sessions.
The platform allows students to learn independently or together with their teachers and classmates. By completing quizzes, exploring ethical dilemmas and carrying out various assignments, students can earn virtual Transparency Badges.
Transparency Badge is more than just a source of theoretical knowledge. It is a space for exploration, discussion and reflection, where students can learn to assess situations, justify their choices and better understand how individual decisions contribute to building a more honest and transparent society.
“A society resilient to corruption begins with the development of strong values. That is why it is essential for children and young people to learn, while still at school, how to recognise dishonest behaviour, understand the importance of transparency and make responsible decisions. We hope that Transparency Badge will become a valuable educational tool for both teachers and students,” says Linas Pernavas, Director of the Special Investigation Service.
The learning platform is administered by the Special Investigation Service of the Republic of Lithuania. It was developed as part of the Internal Security Fund-funded project No. VSF/2023/331, “Prevention and Detection of Corruption, Including Bribery in International Business Transactions.”
