The STT has signed the Memorandum of Understanding with the Austrian Federal Anti-Corruption Bureau

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Special Investigation Service of the Republic of Lithuania (STT) and the Federal Anti-Corruption Bureau of the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Austria (BAK) was signed on 16th of October 2019 in Vienna (Austria).

The purpose of this Memorandum of Understanding is closer cooperation and exchange of information and experience between institutions in the area of corruption prevention.

“The signed MoU will allow achieving mutual benefit in the prevention of corruption to Lithuania and Austria. The exchange of best practices and information will help to strengthen institutional capacities and expand international cooperation,” says Žydrūnas Bartkus, Director of STT.

Mr. Andreas Wieselthaler, Director of the BAK, is the President of the European Partners against Corruption (EPAC), and the European Union Contact-point Network Against Corruption (EACN) and Ms. Rūta Kaziliūnaitė, Chief of the Corruption Prevention Department of the STT, is the Deputy Vice President of EPAC / EACN.

Corruption prevention is one of the four tasks of STT. Corruption Prevention Officers of the STT coordinate corruption prevention activities in Lithuania, monitor the implementation of the National Anti-Corruption Programme of the Republic of Lithuanian for 2015-2025, perform anti-corruption assessment of legislation and carry out corruption risk analysis.
