STT encourages people to report corruption

In September, the Special Investigation Service (hereinafter referred to as “the STT”) will again urge residents not to remain indifferent and report possible cases of corruption. In the period between 1 and 30 September, social anti-corruption advertisements encouraging people to call and report corruption are to be displayed again on outdoor video screens in Vilnius, Klaipėda, Alytus, Kėdainiai, Mažeikiai, Telšiai and Utena.

In spring (in April – May), a 12-second video clip calling on people to actively get involved in the fight against corruption was shown ninety thousand times in five major cities in Lithuania and also in Telšiai, Alytus, Kėdainiai, Utena and Mažeikiai. Surveys revealed that 34.1 percent of Lithuanian population saw the clip.

Panevėžys dwellers were the best to take note of this information – 60.3 percent of respondents. The STT message was seen by 46.4 percent of residents in Klaipėda, 38.6 percent in Šiauliai, 39.9 percent in Kaunas and 20.1 percent in Vilnius.

The campaign which is to be conducted in September once more is expected to strengthen people’s wish not to put up with manifestations of corruption, but rather, after encountering them, report it to the STT by a 24-hour telephone hotline (8 5) 266 3379.

The STT expresses its gratitute to the outdoor video screen network Actual City Media for cooperation in raising public awareness.
