Advertisements on public transport are to urge people not to tolerate corruption

The Special Investigation Service of the Republic of Lithuania (hereinafter referred to as the “STT”) once again encourages dwellers of large cities not to remain indifferent and report possible cases of corruption.

As of 15 September this year, regular buses and trolleybuses carrying STT social anti-corruption advertisements calling on residents and visitors to more actively join in the fight against corruption are to run in four largest cities of the country.

Advertisements placed on means of public transport urge people not to take or give a bribe, and to report known cases of corruption to STT officials by telephone hotlines (8 5) 266 3379 or (8 5) 266 3333. They are followed by contact information of STT Vilnius, Kaunas Klaipėda and Šiauliai Departments to which all residents who have encountered corrupt public servants or officials can apply.

Trolleybuses in Vilnius and Kaunas are to follow popular fixed routes until 15 September next year, while bus routes in Šiauliai and Klaipėda are to change. Therefore, these social advertisements are expected to be seen by most wheeled and pedestrian dwellers of and visitors to big cities.

This social campaign aimed at strengthening people’s wish not to put up with manifestations of corruption is to be carried out by the STT in cooperation with Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda and Šiauliai City municipalities.
