On 16 of November business representatives of Kaunas region participated in the discussion – "Why is it worth building a corruption-resistant environment in business?". It was the fifth (final) discussion of this kind organized in Lithuanian cities, during which the Anti-Corruption Guide for Business (AVV), prepared by public and private sector representatives together with the Special Investigation Service (STT), was presented. The discussion was organized by STT together with Kaunas Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Crafts and also Kaunas College.
The AVV was prepared by the STT initiative, according to the National Anti-Corruption Program 2015-2025. Representatives of the Lithuanian Responsible Business Association (LAVA), AB DNB bankas, UAB Ernst & Young Baltic, Chief Official Ethics Commission, Ministry of Justice, Transparency International Lithuanian Division, National Anti-Corruption Association, "Baltosios bangos", UAB "Algoritmų sistemos" and experts from different fields, taking into account the experience of the public and private sector in the fight against corruption, have made a significant contribution to AVV preparation.
The initiatives of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) that promote the implementation of transparent and responsible business principles in business were overviewed in the discussion. Standards of ethical conduct of companies were discussed and examples of good practice and recommendations that are relevant creating a corruption-resistant business were provided. Reliability, good reputation and transparent functioning are crucial factors for achieving one of the country's key strategic objectives – full membership of the OECD.
AVV presentation events also took place in Vilnius, Klaipėda, Šiauliai and Panevėžys. In total, more than 1,000 business representatives took part in those events.
