STT implements EU Twinning project in Serbia

The Kick-off event of European Union Twinning project "Strengthening capacities of internal control in the fight against corruption within the Ministry of interior” was held on the 1st of October 2019 in Belgrade (Republic of Serbia). The Special Investigation Service of the Republic of Lithuania (as the Project Leader), together with Police Department under the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Lithuania, and several Romanian law enforcement agencies, as well as Romanian Anti-Corruption General Directorate, as Junior partner is implementing the Project.

Ms. Biljana Popovič Ivkovič, State secretary of Ministry of interior of Republic of Serbia, Ms. Mateja Norčič Štamcar, Deputy Head of the EU Delegation to the Republic of Serbia, Dr. Egidijus Radzevičius, deputy director of Special Investigation Service of the Republic of Lithuania (the Project leader), Mr. Viktoras Dagilis, Minister Counsellor of Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in Budapest, H.E. Ms Oana-Cristina Popa, Ambassador of Romania to Serbia participated at the Kick-off meeting. More than 60 persons attended to the meeting.

Dr. Egidijus Radzevičius, deputy director of Special Investigation Service of the Republic of Lithuania (the Project leader), emphasized the importance of this project for the Ministry of interior of the Republic of Serbia, not only for gaining the experience from Lithuania and Romania in the fight against corruption, but also by strengthening the successful cooperation and friendly relations between the two countries.

EU funded budget: € 1,000,000. Duration – 18 months.

This is the 5th EU Twinning Project, implemented by the Special Investigation Service of the Republic of Lithuania.
