When confirming the Special Investigation Service Performance Report for 2008 on July 16, 2009 the Seimas (Parliament) of the Republic of Lithuania gave an assignment to the Government of Lithuania to consider a possibility of amending the Government‘s Decision „On Remuneration for Valuable Information about the Crimes, which Involve Property Damage to the State”, adopted on the 21st January, 2003, by introducing a possibility to award onetime payment to the persons having provided valuable information about the offences of a corruptive nature.
On Wednesday, November 25, the discussion on the draft law „On Protection of persons reporting corruption“ was organised in the President‘s Office.
Lithuania has improved its position in this year’s Corruption Perception Index (CPI) in comparison to the previous year, the Transparency International informed on 18 November. After few years of worsening situation in the fight against corruption Lithuanian got closer to the threshold at which a country is considered capable of dealing with corruption.
The 9th annual conference of the informal network EPAC (European Partners Against Corruption) titled „Continuing the Dialogue - Fighting Corruption with Integrity“ took place in Nova Gorica, Slovenia during November 4 to 6 of 2009. The STT officers, who took part in it together with the representatives of police monitoring and anticorruption institutions from 23 European Union and Western Balkan countries adopted two important documents.
